The Sand Barrens Golf Club in Swainton
This facilty has three nine hole courses that can be played in three eighteen hole combinations. The courses are situated in the Pine Barrens, which is a sandy-based soil area. The layouts include twenty-five acres of sand surrounding the fairways, tee boxes and greens. The courses are visually intimidating with wide, flat fairways and several trees lining the course. The greens are large and undulating, making precise putting important to a good score. Alcohol is available for members only. The 6,260-yard men's tee for the South/West Course also has a ladies' course rating of 75.3 and slope of 138. The 6,462-yard men's tee for the West/North Course also has a ladies' course rating of 76.6 and slope of 135. The 6,304-yard men's tee for the North/South Course also has a ladies' course rating of 75.7 and slope of 137. "GOLFWEEK" selected the South/West Course 95th among "America's 100 Best Modern Courses" for 1999.
