Pecan Valley Golf Club in San Antonio
This is one of the oldest and most storied courses in the area. The course underwent a $6 million restoration project under the supervision of Bob Cupp in 1998. The traditional-style layout features towering oak and pecan trees, as well as Salado Creek, which crosses the course eight times. An abundance of trees bordering the design also offers a secluded feel. Gently rolling fairways and subtly-undulated greens make the most of the natural terrain. The signature hole is #14, a 467-yard, par 4, which features a dogleg right fairway lined with trees and a lake to the right and culminating in an uphill approach to a very large green. In 1968, Pecan Valley played host to the 50th anniversary PGA championship, as well as the 1967, 1969, and 1970 Texas Open's. "Golf Digest" rated this course 46th among the "Top 75 Public Courses" for 1990.
