This very unique facility, which was named to "GOLF Magazine's" 1998 list of "Silver Medal Resorts," features three well-designed eighteen hole courses. These courses can be extremely challenging because they are located alongside the mountains. The Mountain Course is visually stunning and provides good playing conditions. This course was physically carved into the mountain, demanding accuracy and strategic course management. Many famous tournaments, including the 1985 World Cup and the 1989 Senior Skins Game, have been played here. "Golf Digest" rated this course as the 7th "Best Public Course" in the state for 1996. The same publication also rated it as the 18th "Best in State" course for 1995-96, and 27th best for 1997-98. "GOLF Magazine" rated it 35th best under the 1998 category of "Top 100 You Can Play in the U.S.," and "GOLFWEEK" selected it 62nd among "America's 100 Best Modern Courses" for 1997, and 88th in 1998. The signature hole is #16, a 167-yard, par 3. The green is only 160 yards away, but it's a three-story drop from the tee box, and the surrounding brush and rocks make it a real challenge to par. The Dunes Course provides for a relaxing round with dramatic landscapes. Entwined at the base of the Santa Rosa Mountains, the beauty of this course is only matched by the challenge of its considerable fairway bunkering and the trouble surrounding its greens. The natural desert terrain is skillfully incorporated, including various changes in elevation. Hole #17, a 433-yard, par 4, has been listed by the PGA as one of the eighteen toughest holes in America. This hole features a dogleg left fairway designed around a lake and a two-tiered green. Water hazards come into play on seven holes on this course. This course was ranked 75th among the "Top 75 Resort Courses" by "Golf Digest" in 1992. The women's NCAA Championships were held on the Dunes Course in 1996. The Citrus Course is a private course. This course was built on rolling terrain and has many trees lining its fairways. Most holes have water hazards or sand bunkers protecting them. The pro shop number for this course is (760) 564-7620. Guest fees are subject to change depending on the time of year you are playing, therefore it is recommended to call ahead for accurate rates. The fees shown are fees for outside guest not staying in the hotel, therefore prices will go down if you are a guest staying overnight or longer.
