Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex in West Lafayette
This facility offers two eighteen hole championship layouts. The Ackerman Hills Course features narrow fairways lined with large trees. The terrain is hilly and there are numerous sand bunkers incorporated into the course design. Water hazards (a creek) come into play on two holes. The medium-sized greens are slightly sloped and guarded by at least one sand bunker. Larry Packard redesigned the Ackerman Hills Course in 1968. The latest addition is The Kampen Course. This design includes plenty of natural waste areas along the fairways, which, while varying in size, tend to be accommodating. The greens are mildly undulating and feature subtle breaks. The signature hole is #13, a 177-yard, par 3. A slight turn to the right brings a lake into play on this hole.
